To commemorate this Resolution, The UN High-level Forum on the ‘Culture of Peace’ was first convened by the General Assembly President in 2012. It  has sowed the seeds of many COP initiatives globally for peace education awareness and in support of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals toward the UN’s 2030 agenda.

To create the shift every one of us, as a true believer in peace and non-violence, must practice daily what we profess. Peace is not just the absence of war . Peace is integral to human existence- in everything we do, in everything we say and in every thought we have. Now, more than ever, as global chaos rages around us we must mindfully bring to the forefront our desires to calm & restore healthy minds & heart centered actions. To instill the Culture of Peace we must appeal to our governing leaders to instill National Action Plans  and infrastructures for Peace .

The Peace Rose Practice Initiative is a practice that gives basic tools to navigate and find solace within, where true peace begins. It is being birthed in honor of one of the pioneers evolving the Culture of Peace, the brilliant and dedicated Peace leader, Avon Mattison, who passed on October 13, 2021, a cherished and personal friend to Dehanna. Avon was a Co-Founder of the “Pathways to Peace” organization in 1981 and was instrumental in establishing the International Day of Peace,(Peace Day), a United Nations sanctioned holiday observed annually on September 21st. Peace Day has grown from a single event of a few hundred people into a global movement that reaches hundreds of millions of people. It provides a globally shared date for Humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
